Cancer causes 10.4 million deaths worldwide annually and may reach 18.6 million by 2025. Current cancer therapies (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery) require improved specificity to minimize harmful side effects.
NanoLipoMedics is developing manipulated high-density lipoprotein (HDL) as a biocompatible nanocarrier optimized for targeted drug delivery to specific cancer types.
High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) nanoparticles are increasingly being engineered for targeted delivery of cancer drugs. However, there is a dire need for HDL nanoparticles that target specific tumors while minimizing toxic side effects. Strategies for cancer treatment are complicated by a broad variety of factors, including the infected cell type, genetics, tumor size, metastatic stage, and the underlying cell division mechanism. NanoLipoMedics is tuning HDL particles to facilitate less toxic drug delivery customized to each unique cancer patient.
